This system is used for tracking issues and receipts - it could be tools from a tool crib, file folders, reference books. It is designed very much for simplicity of use - on the basis that if it is not simple and easy to use, it won't be used.
A "kiosk" is provided, a very simple set up with a presentation
scanner to read bar codes (on ID card and items to be managed)
and a screen to display the results. Users with a bar coded identification
(security pass or company ID card) can receive and return items
merely be scanning their card and the item to be issued or received.
No keyboard required.
The following screens provide a presentation of the Kiosk as it
could be configured. The blue square represents the screen of
the kiosk. Notes beneath in black and white explain the process.
Click here to see the loan
tracking system in operation, and click through the various
screens, to get an idea of how the kiosk can work for you. The
blue screens represent the screens that the user would see. The
black text beneath the screen is a commentary to explain to you
what is happening.

Who should be using this?
The system can be used for tracking and managing files, for legal offices, or where security of the files is important.
It can be used in tool cribs, to track the issue of assets and consumables.
It can be used in any situation where tools or equipment are issued at the beginning of a shift and returned at the end of that shift. Vehicles can be tracked by scanning the keys.
Although the system is usually used with bar codes to identify the items and the security cards, RFID is increasing a more appropriate solution, particularly for file management. Contact SageData for more information on RFID, and its suitability for your application.
